Municipalities

Dawson Creek city hall solar hot water installation

SolarBC’s local government project will cost-share the installation of solar hot water systems on municipal buildings. Applications will be solicited through a request for proposals and projects selected based on greenhouse gas savings and geographic distribution.

Schools

Clarence Fulton Secondary School

SolarBC plans to support the Solar for Schools program by providing funding towards the cost of solar thermal installations on 50 secondary schools across British Columbia. Participating schools will be selected through an open call for submissions to school districts, and selected based on the fuel source and efficiency of their current boiler system and the hot water use load.

Social Housing

BC public housing complex

Applications from social housing providers will be solicited through a request for proposals and projects selected based on greenhouse gas savings and geographic distribution. Buildings selected will need to carry out an energy assessment to identify the maximum opportunities for energy savings.

First Nations

SolarBC recognizes that First Nations have different rights and operate in a different context than non-Aboriginal communities. We also understand the lack of coordinated support that exists for First Nations who want to install solar technology and other efficient and renewable systems.
