First Nations
There is a keen interest among First Nations in British Columbia in a sustainable energy future.
Many of BC’s First Nations currently rely on an outdated, unhealthy and increasingly expensive forms of power generation—shipping and storing diesel fuel to burn in local generators. Even among a growing number of grid-connected communities, there is an interest in long-term energy affordability, sustainability and self-reliance.
SolarBC recognizes that First Nations have different rights and operate in a different context than non-Aboriginal communities. We also understand the lack of coordinated support that exists for First Nations who want to install solar technology and other efficient and renewable systems.
Please stay tuned for upcoming announcements on the First Nations project. Further details on how to apply will be available soon. If you would like to express initial interest in this project, please send an email to us at info@solarbc.ca and we will contact you directly as information becomes available.
