Dawson Creek
Keeping One Step Ahead Of Their Carbon Footprint

In the heart of the Peace Region is the vibrant and growing community of Dawson Creek. This green city is known for it’s reliance on natural gas and for being a leader, promoter and implementer of solar hot water in British Columbia. Along with their excellent solar potential of 1100 solar hours per year, the city’s ingenuity, creativity and self-direction – from solar panels on buildings to street lights – makes them an ideal SolarBC Community.
Dawson Creek has created a partnership initiative with nearby West Moberly, which will be a key part of their role with SolarBC and will share their knowledge and expertise with the First Nations community.
Right now, Dawson Creek is exploring options for installation of solar hot water systems on commercial buildings. They are also identifying the need for policy tools, bylaws and financing options for this and other renewable energy improvements.
